When you begin the process of installing a car seat for your child, you need to look at the seats in your car so that you choose the best location. Older children can usually sit in seats near the doors, but babies and toddlers should sit in the middle seat.

Use the belt in your vehicle when securing the seat so that it's in the proper position. The belt will go through the rear area of the seat and latch in the buckle. There are usually arrows showing where the belt should go, and Lakewood Happy Motors can offer instructions about how to use the belts as well.

Another option is to use the tethers or anchors on the bottom of your child's seat. These are often found on toddler seats and booster seats for older children. A top tether is usually located on booster seats since they are taller than those for a baby.
