Applying Touch Up Paint to Fix a Chip in the Car Paint

Our shop wanted to help inform drivers how to make minor repairs to the car paint when you find a chip on ding. Here is all you'll need to make that repair.

Begin by dipping a clean cloth in a mix of soap and water, then gently rubbing the area to remove any dirt or debris trapped in the opening. Once dry, use that same cloth and place a small amount on rubbing compound on the chip, rubbing in circular motions to soften the paint edges.

Once dry, dip the tiny pain brush into the touch up paint bottle, and try to only get paint inside the chip. If it is too small, use a wooden toothpick to fill the chip. The less paint used, the better it will blend and go unnoticed.
